German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz will pull the wraps off its new GLC SUV in India on June 2. The GLC SUV, which was previously known as GLK Class, made its India debut at the Auto Expo 2016 in February.
The GLC will be launched by Roland Folger, managing director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India in New Delhi. The SUV has started arriving at the dealerships ahead of its launch and is expected to be priced at about Rs. 45 lakh (ex-showroom). The Mercedes-Benz GLC will take on the likes of BMW X3 and Audi Q5 in India.
Under the hood, the GLC is expected to get 2.1-litre four-cylinder diesel engine with a nine-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. As for features, the SUV is expected to come with COMAND infotainment leather upholstery and a 3-spoke steering wheel.
In terms of dimensions, the GLC measures 4,656mm in length, 1,644mm in height, 2,096mm in width and has a wheelbase of 2,874mm. The GLC SUV is said to be one of the 12 models to be launched in India by Mercedes-Benz this year.
In 2016, Mercedes-Benz has planned to bring 12 models to India. On May 18, the brand launched its flagship SUV, the GLS, in India priced at Rs. 80.40 lakh (ex-showroom). The new GLS comes powered by a 3.0-litre V6 turbo engine that develops 255bhp at 3,400rpm and 620Nm of torque in the range of 1600 to 2400rpm. This engine comes mated to nine-speed automatic transmission.
