Mercedes Benz India is all set to pull the wraps off its new car GLA Class in the country on 30 September, and the launch will be followed by an AMG variant in October.
Expected to be priced in the ₹27-32 lakh range, the new GLA Class will hit the domestic market in both petrol and diesel engine options. Under the hood, the GLA petrol will get a 1.8 litre turbocharged, four cylinder engine, which can churn out a power of 181 bhp at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 300 Nm between 1,200-4,000 rpm.
The diesel version of the car will pack 200 CDI 2.2 liter four cylinder diesel motor that can pump out 135 bhp of power at 3,400 rpm and 300 Nm peak torque between 1,400-3,000 rpm. As far as the transmission is concerned, both the engines are likely to come mated to seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Seated on a wheelbase of 2,699mm; the GLA Class measures 4,417mm in length, 1,804 mm in width and 1,494 mm in height. It has a ground clearance of 183mm and the car is likely to host features like 18-inch alloy wheels, panoramic sliding sunroof, and twin-pipe exhaust system.
Inside the cabin, the GLA Class is expected to get ambient lighting, ARTICO upholstery, and rear seat entertainment package .On the safety front, expect seven airbags, Anti Clip Regulation, Anti Lock Braking System, BAS ,ESP ,Curve Dynamic Assist and Hill Start Assist. In India, the vehicle will be pitted against Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Volvo V40 Cross Country.
The company will launch the performance version of GLA45 AMG sometime next month. It will pack 2 liter turbocharged petrol engine under the hood, which can belt out 360 PS of power and 450 Nm of torque and will come mated to AMG SpeedShift DCT 7-Speed sports transmission.
