German carmaker Mercedes-Benz brought the third variant of its E-Class sedan the E220d to India on Friday, June 2. Priced at 57.14 lakh (ex-showroom Pune), the E220d is positioned below the E350d.
The E220d, the new entry level diesel variant of E-Class sedan will replace the E250d variant of the previous generation of E-Class. The power in the new E-Class trim comes from a 2-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine tuned to churn out 191bhp along with 400Nm of peak torque, mated to 9-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission.
While most of the features of the E220d are same as the top-end E350d, the new variant misses out on some of the features. The E220d features LED headlamps and daytime running lights (DRLs), rain-sensing windscreen wipers and LED taillamps.
Other features offered include multifunction steering wheel, reclining rear seats, self-park technology, panoramic sunroof and 12.3-inch high-resolution media display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. The new E-Class sedan, which is 185mm longer than the previous generation model is pitted against Volvo S90, Audi A6, BMW 5 Series and Jaguar XF.
