German luxury car maker Mercedes Benz launched its highly-anticipated CLA Class sedan in India on Thursday (22 January) with a price tag of ₹31.50 lakh (Ex-Showroom Delhi).
Offered in three trims- CLA 200 CDI Style, CLA 200 Sport and CLA 200 CDI Sport, the new sedan is available in both petrol and diesel engine options in the country.
"With many segment benchmarks, we are convinced that the CLA will firmly make its mark in India. Its powerful design underscores the sporty side of the Mercedes-Benz brand. The CLA-Class has been a global success winning new customers for Mercedes-Benz and we aim to replicate this success in India," Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mercedes-Benz India, said.
While the petrol version of CLA-Class is powered by 2.0-litre engine that can churn out a power of 135kW at 5500 rpm and a torque of 300Nm between 1200 to 4000rpm , the diesel version gets power from 2.2-litre oil-burner that can pump out 100kW and 300Nm of peak torque between 1600 to 3000 rpm. Both the engines come mated to Mercedes 7G-DCT automatic transmission.
In terms of dimensions, new CLA-Class sedan measures 4630mm in length, 1777 in width and 1432mm in height. The sedan comes seated on a wheelbase of 2699mm and has a kerb weight of 1510kg.

We have incorporated India specific changes to the car making it even more adept for the Indian conditions," added Kern.
