Mercedes-Benz in the beginning of this year announced it will launch 12 models in India. The latest reports say one among the 12 models will be the C-Class cabriolet. The drop top version of the C-Class is expected to make India debut by the end of 2016.

The C-Class cabriolet will be only available in the C300 variant in India and there are no plans to bring the powerful AMG version at present, reported Cardekho. Under the hood, the C300 Cabriolet gets a 1991cc four-cylinder petrol engine that also does duty in the recently launched GLC SUV. The engine will generate 242bhp of power and 370Nm of torque mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission as standard with dynamic select option. This engine pushes C300 to sprint 0-100kmph in 6.7 seconds before hitting the top speed of 250kmph.

The design of the C-Class cabriolet is a combination C-Class sedan and the C-Class Coupe. The face of the cabriolet is similar to the sedan, while the side profile a lot look like the Coupe version barring the roof. The fabric roof can be opened and closed at speed of up to 50kmph.

Considering the C-Class cabriolet is a niche product, Mercedes-Benz India is expected to bring the vehicle ias CBU(Completely Built Unit). The C300 is estimated to be priced at around Rs 60 lakh. There is no direct competitor for the C-Class cabriolet in India. Audi has A3 cabriolet, which is a segment lower.
