German luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz launched the new C-Class 250d variant in India Wednesday, March 23 with a price tag of Rs 44.36 lakh (ex-showroom Pune). The C-Class 250d, the new variant of the C-Class, one of Mercedes-Benz's highest selling models in India, will be locally produced at the company's plant in Pune.
The new C-Class 250d is Mercedes-Benz's third launch in the country this year. Powered by 2,143cc in line 4-cylinder engine, the C 250d comes equipped with 9G-Tronic transmission. The engine can churn out 201bhp of power at 3800rpm and 500Nm of peak torque between 1600rpmto 1800 rpm.

With the introduction of the technologically advanced new C 250 d, we further bolster our position and are confident of continuing its unmatched success in India," said Roland Folger, managing director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, in a statement.
The C 250d features the 43.2 cm 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels, ambient lighting, reversing camera active parking assist and LED Intelligent Light System. The safety in the new C-Class variant is taken care of by anti-lock braking system (ABS), brake Assist System (BAS), electronic stability program (ESP), traction control system (TCS) and hill start assist.
Mercedes-Benz has planned to launch 12 models in 2016 in the country. The company will launch the S400, the petrol variant of the luxury flagship sedan S-Class in India March 29.
