Instagram has apologised for censoring a photo of a fully-dressed woman with menstrual blood on her pants.
The photo has been doing the rounds on the Internet after Instagram deleted it from its site a few days ago.
thank you instagram for deleting a photo of a woman who is fully covered and menstruating stating... https://t.co/mb7CkB611O — rupi kaur (@rupikaur_) March 25, 2015
Rupi Kaur, based in Ontario, had uploaded her photo on the site recently, but Instagram deleted it twice citing it doesn't follow the "community standards" of the website.

Following this, Kaur protested against the website, stating "I will not apologize for not feeding the ego and pride of misogynist society that will have my body in an underwear but not be okay with a small leak."
Soon, Instagram sent a message apologising for removing the photo "accidentally".
"A member of our team accidentally removed something you posted on Instagram. This was a mistake, and we sincerely apologize for this error. We have since restored the content, and you should now be able to see it," Instagram wrote in the message.
She has also posted a series of photos on her website as part of a photo-series project for her visual rhetoric course, showing different situations all women are familiar with.
