Former Spice Girl Mel B has reportedly walked out on her husband of seven years, Stephen Belafonte.
The two had heated arguments before Mel B was admitted to a hospital last Thursday and friends say that their relationship is "hanging by a thread."
In fact, the 39-year-old film producer did not even visit his wife in the hospital, where she was being treated for a suspected stomach ulcer.
The couple have not been in contact since "'The X Factor" judge packed and left the home they were sharing in London.
"The marriage really is at breaking point and hanging by a thread. Mel is incredibly fragile and in a bad place," a source told The Mirror.
Speculations began when Mel B missed the Saturday night show of "The X Factor" but appeared on the final on Sunday, without wearing her wedding ring.
Viewers of the talent show took to Twitter after some fans spotted marks on Mel B's body, raising questions if Belafonte beat her. However, Belafonte denied the claims.
He slammed the Twitter comments, saying: "I don't usually respond to Twitter messages but I will respond to comments of hitting my wife which I think are quite disgusting. Untrue. Mel was very ill and a bunch of doctors helped her get better. If fans can't just relax before being negative they are not real fans."
However, a friend of the star confirmed that things are most likely over between the couple.
"Mel's marriage has reached crisis point — in fact it's on life support. She has told friends it is over with Stephen," the source said, The Daily Star reports.
The source further added, "It was a very symbolic gesture when she removed her wedding ring before appearing on The X Factor final on Sunday night – she knew what she was doing and wanted to send Stephen a clear message about her feelings. Mel hasn't spoken to Stephen once since her admission to hospital last week and as it stands she doesn't want to see him."
The Spice Girl's near and dear ones are in fact, encouraging her to leave Belafonte as their relationship is not healthy and separation would do good to both of them.
