Lenovo is facing stiff competition from newcomers in the Indian smartphone market and Meizu is one of them. The Chinese smartphone makers are continuously coming up with new models, aiding the budget smartphone space to keep growing. Lenovo unveiled its affordable Vibe P1m smartphone in India, while Meizu, not long ago, launched m2 budget smartphone. These two phones bring a lot to the table without burning a deep hole in your pockets.
Meizu m2 witnessed a grand opening as it sold out on day one. The ultra-affordable handset is once again available exclusively on Snapdeal on 23 October. Meizu m2's striking specs combined with its Rs. 6,999 price tag, makes it quite a challenger. But Lenovo just launched its Vibe P1m to take on every other budget smartphone in the sub-Rs. 10,000 category.
If you are puzzled between these two new smartphones, here's a comparison to help you out:
Display and design
Meizu m2 features a 5-inch HD screen with GFF Full lamination technology that minimises reflection to improve readability. The handset has a simple and elegant design with a sealed polycarbonate unibody and curved edges.
Lenovo Vibe P1m has a bigger 5.5-inch HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 shield and 294ppi. The budget handset measures 141 x 71.8 x 9.3mm and weighs about 148 grams. The plastic rear cover may not give you the premium feel, but it matches the affordable price tag.
Camera
Meizu m2 sports an impressive 13-megapixel CMOS sensor by Samsung that uses an f/2.2 aperture for rich and sharp images. There's an LED flash to give you clear shots in low light conditions. The front camera uses a 5-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture for better selfies.
On the other hand, Lenovo Vibe P1m comes with an 8MP rear snapper with LED flash and a 5MP front camera.
Processor
Meizu m2 is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core 64-bit MediaTek MT6735 processor and Mali T720 GPU. It runs on Google's Android 5.1 Lollipop based Flyme OS that delivers a unique Android experience.
Lenovo Vibe P1m draws its power from a 64-bit quad-core MediaTek processor, willing to offer similar user experience as the Meizu m2.
RAM and storage
Meizu m2 packs 2GB RAM and 16GB internal space. The handset has microSD card expansion to throw in additional storage, but the slot can also be used as a secondary SIM, which leaves users with a choice.
Lenovo Vibe P1m also offers 2GB RAM, 16GB expandable storage but has separate dual SIM slots, so the users need not compromise.
Battery
Meizu m2 runs on a 2,500mAh battery, which delivers up to 23 hours on 2G phone calls or 10 hours on 4G. Lenovo Vibe P1m's biggest USP is its 4,000mAh battery, which packs fast charging technology. Real world usage of the handset will reveal how long it can survive on a single charge.
Add-ons
Both phones support 4G LTE, dual SIM, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and other sensors. There is nothing unique that comes with these phones to outbid each other.
What we think
Both phones offer great value for the price. If you are looking for a longer battery life, Lenovo Vibe P1m is a great choice, while camera lovers can buy the Meizu m2. In terms of performance, display clarity and storage, both smartphones stand equal. In terms of pricing, Meizu m2 wins with its Rs. 6,999 price tag, which is Rs. 1,000 cheaper than Lenovo Vibe P1m.
