Meizu is on a launching spree this month. The Chinese smartphone-maker unveiled the affordable M3 Note earlier this month and followed it up with the flagship Pro 6 on April 13. Meizu further expanded its portfolio with a new device — Meizu m3 — on Monday in China, closing the month with three new devices sensibly covering low-end, mid-range and high-end price markets.
The all-new Meizu m3 is the successor of last year's popular m2 smartphone, which was well-received by critics and masses. Meizu m3 has been launched to carry forward the legacy of the entry-level m2 smartphone. Launched in China, the m3 smartphone is priced at ¥599 for the 16GB storage and 2GB RAM model and ¥799 for the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant.
International Business Times, India, reached out to Meizu for information on the m3's launch in India, and the company said it would happen "very soon." Based on the Chinese pricing of the handset, the m3 might cost around Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 7,000 in India, but nothing is official yet.
Meizu m3 looks almost identical to the company's M3 Note, which received great response, with 100,000 units sold out in just seven minutes. It features a 5-inch HD display with 296ppi and uses a Schott Xensation cover glass for protection of the 2.5D screen. The handset sports a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture, PDAF and LED flash, and a 5MP front snapper with larger f/2.0 aperture.
Under the polycarbonate body, the m3 smartphone features a 2,870mAh battery and is powered by a 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor. There are two variants of the handset — one with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage and the other with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. Both models have hybrid microSD card slots, supporting up to 128GB. The dual-SIM smartphone runs Android 5.1 Lollipop-based Flyme 5.1 OS.
Like other Meizu smartphones, Meizu m3 also has the mBack button, but there is no fingerprint scanner. It comes in multiple colour options, including white, blue, gray, gold and pink. The sale of the m3 smartphone begins on April 29 in China, but it is available for pre-order from the company's official website.
