After losing to Sunrisers Hyderabad in their last fixture, Delhi Daredevils' (DD) hopes of progressing to the playoffs stage have gone. They only have pride to play for as they clash against table-toppers Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Raipur on Tuesday.
While DD have struggled, CSK have continued their dominance in IPL 2015, notching 16 points to assure themselves of a place in the playoffs.
But, CSK are not done yet as they will be eager to maintain top spot.
Both teams have a number of star players, who can make fans in Raipur go crazy.
Here is a look at some key players.
Chennai Super Kings
Brendon McCullum – With his 61-ball 81 in CSK's last game, the New Zealander showed he can change his game as per the situation. The Kiwi skipper has been dangerous at the top of the order, scoring runs at will and making world class players look like college-level bowlers. He has amassed 419 runs in the competition at an amazing strike rate of 165.61. The New Zealander will be missed by IPL fans when he leaves for national duty soon.
Dwayne Bravo – The West Indian has been the pick of the IPL bowlers, as he is the Purple Cap holder with 19 wickets. There are a number of top-class bowlers in the IPL, but Bravo has bowled intelligently to stand at the top of the list, with his variety and change of pace getting him crucial wickets. MS Dhoni has also used the bowler wisely. Apart from his bowling heroics, the all-rounder has scored 158 runs in the competition, and one can expect the West Indian to use his willow to good effect when required.
Delhi Daredevils
JP Duminy – With 341 runs to his name, the South African has been one of the best players of IPL 2015 and has led his team from the front. Coming in to bat at number three for DD, he has made full use of the field restrictions if a wicket has fallen early. The DD captain has taken the attack to the opposition bowlers, as he has hit 22 fours and an impressive 17 sixes so far. He has used his wily off-breaks to good effect too, with 8 crucial wickets this campaign.
Nathan Coulter-Nile – The Australian has bowled an impressive line and length with the new ball, and has been useful in the slog overs as well. Alongside Imran Tahir, Coulter-Nile is the joint highest wicket taker for DD with 15 wickets. With CSK having big names in their top order, DD skipper Duminy will want his fast bowler to dislodge the openers, especially McCullum, as early as possible.
