This 106-year-old grandmother's cooking videos are winning hearts across the globe, and how!
Mastanamma, probably the oldest YouTuber, rose to fame after her YouTube channel Country Foods started driving some serious traffic. The channel, created by her great grandson Laxman and his friend Srinath Reddy, has 2,61,267 subscribers as of writing this article.
"Both of us were video editors and we took a liking to cooking. We started the channel in August last year and put up around 40 videos of us cooking. They were doing okay, but once we got granny on board, the views shot up! Our channel now has over two lakh subscribers. Just within a day, a video gets one lakh views," Srinath told Hindustan Times.
Hailing from Gudiwada in the Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh, the grandmother deals in local cuisines. Her delicacies are laced with indigenous flavours. Using locally available ingredients, Mastanamma makes tempting egg dosas. Her unique recipes include watermelon chicken, Chicken drumstick and Gongura chicken.
She also fixes modern fare like chicken cheese burgers and crispy fried chicken.
"Much much love from South Africa granny, love all the videos. You are such a beautiful soul and a blessing in your village," Ineshree Naidoo, commented.
"Country Foods I wish I was there with granny love you all God bless you all," said another YouTuber.
According to Deccan Chronicle, while one subscriber from Pakistan sent Mastanamma a sari on her birthday, another Indian family from New Zealand invited her over to felicitate her.
