This week's episode of "MasterChef Junior" is both a delight and, in many ways, an absolute horror to watch. The 12 remaining contestants have to blind taste a dish and recreate it as part of the mystery box challenge. Admittedly, this is one of the most difficult challenges of "MasterChef Junior" season 4 and it is safe to predict that whoever wins this challenge has all the trappings of a chef.
In season 4 episode 7, titled "Blind Ambition", Michelin star Chef Gordon Ramsay creates a dish for all the contestants. Bereft of their eyesight, the 12 remaining homecooks touch, taste and smell the dish and still remain in a bit of confusion.
In the promo for "Blind Ambition", this confusion becomes apparent. Addison guesses that it could either be Turkey or Chicken. This thought is echoed by other contestants as well. However, Zac appears to be quite frazzled and thinks he is eating pork.
The next part of the competition poses a bigger challenge. Each of the contestants have to select the meat from the MasterChef kitchen and a few of them look around is bewilderment. The trick, judges Chef Ramsay and Chef Elliot reveal, is to select different types of meat and taste it as it is getting cooked.
In the promo for season 4 episode 7, Kya almost sets the kitchen on fire as she pan sears her meat. An adorable Kya, who unknowingly flambees her dish, reveals that she didn't know a drop of vinegar could spark a fire. However, it appears that her dish may put her in the top three for the mystery box challenge.
After tasting her dish, Chef Ramsay says, "Whether you like it or not, at eight years of age, you are a freak."
"MasterChef Junior" season 4 episode 7's synopsis reads:
The 12 remaining cooks test their senses in a blind-taste challenge with dishes prepared by Gordon Ramsay—and then must re-create the dish. Later, in a team challenge, the contestants prepare a meal for a dining room full of grandmothers in their first restaurant contest.
"MasterChef Junior" season 4 episode 7, titled "Blind Ambition", will be aired on Friday, 18 December, at 8pm on Fox. You can watch the episode online via FOX NOW and Hulu.
