There has been no major development coming in the way of the upcoming and not yet announced the title, Mass Effect 4, though all indicators point out to a tentative release date of 2015.
The game is in development at BioWare and what made the fans excited was its gameplay preview showcased at the E3 2014. But apart from this, not much information was released on this front.
Mass Effect 4, the next main installment in the Mass Effect franchise will be released in 2015 for next-generation consoles like PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, The Inquisitr reported. The game will be powered by Frostbite 3 Engine, which has been previously used in Battlefield 4. It will also be used in Battlefield Hardline and Dragon Age: Inquisition.
It is well known how fans of Mass Effect 3 were dispirited following its release, largely due to the closed ending that the game had. Fans have been waiting for Mass Effect 4 with the hope that all the wrongs will be undone and they can play it with enhanced excitement as these iterations will include next graphical quality that next-generation consoles demand.
"We have already said that the Commander Shepard trilogy is over and that the next [Mass Effect] game will not feature him/her. That is the only detail you have on the game. I see people saying 'Well, they'll have to pick a canon ending.' No, because the game does not have to come after. Or before. Or off to the side. Or with characters you know. Or yadda yadda yadda," said Chris Priestly community manager at BioWare speaking about Mass Effect 4.
In a tweet, Yanick Roy, the developer said that Mass Effect 4 will be the same type of the game as the other three the Mass Effect franchise have seen.
Also, the name of the game title may not even be Mass Effect 4. In one of the forums (via Game Informer) Priestly had said, "To call the next game Mass Effect 4 or ME4 is doing it a disservice and seems to cause a lot of confusion here. We have already said that the Commander Shepard trilogy is over and that the next game will not feature him/her. That is the only detail you have on the game."
It was further explained by Roy that using the title, Mass Effect 4 would mean "linearity, a straight evolution of the gameplay and story of the first three games."
The next release for BioWare is Dragon Age: Inquisition. It was also opined that this title must not be messed up if Mass Effect 4 has to be a success and the company must not become greedy by making DLCs for Inquisition. Dragon Age: Inquisition will be released on 18 November 2014 for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
