As fans are impatiently waiting for every minute  information and hints on BioWare's Mass Effect, a rumour has surfaced stating that the developer is unlikely to roll out the sci-fi RPG for current generation consoles like PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Instead, it is being said that the game might release only on next-gen consoles -- PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

"Definitely. Thankfully it's their last cross-gen game..." Stealthy Box quoted an 'industry insider,' as saying, when asked about Mass Effect 4 and Dragon Age: Inquisition. This means that the recently released Dragon Age: Inquisition, which was rolled out on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One consoles will be the last game from the developer on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Though as of now we can only treat this as a rumour since it has not been confirmed by BioWare, there have been previous instances where the developer is reported to have hinted on the possible release of Mass Effect 4 for next-gen only.

"It's kind of tricky to officially comment on that, but I mean, gen4looks pretty awesome and Mass Effect's an awesome-looking game," was what Joel MacMillan said during the PAX East 2014 panel, Canoe reported.

It must also be noted that Mass Effect 4 might have a different title, with many gaming websites preferring to call it the Next Mass Effect game. Previously, the developer had shared pictures showing them working on a new game, which many believe is the next Mass Effect.

The last Mass Effect game, Mass Effect 3 was released on 6 March 2012 for Wii U, PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
