Marvel unveiled the much-anticipated Black Panther trailer on June 9, 2017, and the trailer racked up 89 million views within first 24 hours of its debut including the 19 million viewers of NBA finals.

The Marvel movie trailer was released during the NBA Finals between Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers. According to Variety, the trailer created a lot of social media buzz. The clip generated nearly 466,000 new conversations as per the media measurement firm comScore and its PreAct service.
Sony's Spider-Man: Homecoming and Disney-Pixar's Cars 3 generated 1.95 million and 423,000 million conversations respectively (according to Variety).
The Marvel character is created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The movie starring Chadwick Boseman, Michael B Jordan, Sterling K Brown, Lupita Nyong'o, Angela Bassett, Zendaya and Winston Duke features 90 percent black actors. Boseman plays the role of T'Challa aka Black Panther, the king of African nation Wakanda.
Black Panther trailer surpassed the records of Marvel and Disney's Captain America: Civil War (61 million), Star Wars: The Force Awakens (55 million) and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (52 million).

Directed by Ryan Coogler, Marvel's Black Panther movie will open in theatres on February 9, 2018 (UK) and February 16, 2018 (US).
