The first name that comes to the mind of every Marvel fan across the world whenever "Agents of SHIELD" is discussed is Agent Phil Coulson. The character is portrayed by Clark Gregg in Marvel Cinematic Universe's (MCU) various franchises on television and big screen.
Coulson is one of the most popular original characters created exclusively for MCU movies. Though he had never occurred in any of the comic books previously, Coulson became a major character after Gregg portrayed him for the first time in "Iron Man" (2008).
Gregg continued to play the character in subsequent MCU movies, namely "Iron Man 2" (2010), "Thor" (2011), and "The Avengers" (2012). After Coulson was seemingly killed in "The Avengers," he was resurrected in Marvel's TV series "Agents of SHIELD" and ever since, has been playing a leading role in the series.
Besides movies and TV series, Gregg has also voiced Coulson in the animated series "Ultimate Spider-Man" and the video games "Lego Marvel Super Heroes" and "Marvel Heroes." As the actor celebrates his 54th birthday today, here are some of his lesser-known pictures from his Instagram account, where he can be seen having a good time with fellow actors from "Agents of SHIELD."
