It looks like Maruti Suzuki, country's largest car maker is all set to foray into the light commercial vehicles (LCV) segment with its new vehicle codenamed Y9T. New images of Maruti LCV have emerged on the web space, hinting at an early launch of the vehicle in the country.
Although we have heard much about Maruti's first LCV before also, this is the first time the vehicle has been caught on camera in India. From the images, which have been posted by the folks at Gaadiwaadi, Maruti's Y9T test mule looks production ready and bears strong resemblance to Maruti Omni. The vehicle is seen without camouflage in the latest set of spy shots and is likely to make its India debut next year.
As we already know, Maruti's first LCV will be featuring the company's self developed 800cc, two-cylinder diesel engine, which will also power the company's upcoming Celerio diesel. Other details about the vehicle are scanty at this point of time; however, rumours are that the company will roll out its first LCV from its Gujarat facility. It is not sure whether the LCV Y9T will also be offered in other engine options in the country. When launched, it will be rivaling Tata Ace and Mahindra Maxximo.
Moving on, Maruti is expected to launch Ciaz and Swift facelift in the country in the coming months. The Ciaz, which has been rumoured for quite some time now, will be making its entry during this festive season. First seen at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014, the vehicle is based on Suzuki's Authentic concept car and is likely to come with 1.3 liter Multijet diesel or 1.4 liter K Series petrol engine of Ertiga. The car will be pitted against Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Volkswagen Vento in the sub-continent and is expected to fall in the price brackets of ₹7.2 lakh to ₹10.5 lakh.
The company will also be launching SX4 S-Cross in the country sometime during the next year. The car, which was first seen at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014 was snapped in India,while on test numerous times and when launched the car will take on the likes of Ford EcoSport.
