If the emerging reports on the web are anything to go by, Maruti Suzuki's upcoming YRA hatchback has hit the assembly line in the country ahead of its expected launch during the festive season this year.
A report in Shifting Gears, Zauba.com, which keeps a track of the country's import-export states that the mass production of YRA aka Fronx has begun in India. The report notes that the company has imported the key components of YRA for its production in the country.
Maruti has been working round-the-clock to to bring its latest offerings, Celerio diesel, S-Cross and YRA hatchback, to the Indian market. The YRA hatchback is aimed squarely at new Honda Jazz and Hyundai Elite i20.
Caught on camera numerous times while undergoing test rounds in the country, Maruti YRA is expected to pack 1.0 litre three cylinder turbocharged engine and a diesel mill. The model, which will sit above the company's popular Swift hatchback, will be 90kg lighter than Swift.
As for features, YRA is expected to house steering-mounted controls, new music system with touchscreen, engine start stop button, electrically-adjustable OVRMs, engine start/stop button, rear defogger and reverse parking sensors.
