A new prototype of Maruti's upcoming compact SUV codenamed YBA has been spied testing on the Indian roads, indicating the company has already begun testing its SUV offering in the country.
The folks at Auto Car India have managed to capture the early glimpse of Maruti YBA on camera while it was undergoing its test rounds. Although from the images, there is nothing much one can really pull out since the model is completely hiding under thick black cover, the spy shot of YBA shows the overall body proportion of the model. Maruti YBA is likely to be launched in India in this financial year with the original publisher of the spy shot indicating that the model could make its maiden appearance at Delhi Auto Expo 2016.
The YBA SUV is likely to come with the borrowed design of Suzuki iV-4 concept SUV, which was seen at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show and will be a sub-4m model.
The power is likely to come from either 1.2-litre K-Series engine or 1.3 litre Fiat sourced diesel engine. Although previous reports had said that YBA could get Suzuki's self-developed 1.5-litre diesel engine, recent reports suggested the introduction of new 1.5-litre could be pushed back to 2018.
Maruti YBA is expected to house features like key-less entry, push start/stop button and touchscreen infotainment system and is likely to fall in the price range of ₹5.5 lakh-₹8.2 lakh.
