Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest car maker, will soon be adding its tall-boy design WagonR to its AMT line-up, if the latest reports on the web are anything to go by.
A report in TeamBHP claims that Maruti Suzuki is likely to begin the dispatch of its WagonR AMT models in November 2015. The Maruti WagonR has been long-rumoured to get automated manual transmission (AMT) in India. The WagonR VXi and LXi trims are likely to come equipped with AMT gearbox. Similar to the Maruti Celerio and the Alto K10, the WagonR AMT is also likely to source the AMT box from Magneti Marelli.
Although other details about the WagonR AMT are not known at this point of time, the model is likely to remain the same as the current one in the market, except for the Auto Gear Shift badge.
Under the hood, the upcoming AMT Wagon R is likely to be powered by the same 1.0L K-Series petrol engine, which churns out a power of 68PS and 90Nm torque. In the AMT avatar of the model, the transmission will be handled by Magneti Marelli's five-speed transmission. The Wagon R AMT is likely to be priced slightly higher than the existing manual version.
