Maruti Suzuki's first ground-up project, the Vitara Brezza, was the first new car unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016. The compact SUV made a huge buzz at the event and was the most talked about model in the early hours of the show. The SUV eventually became one of the showstoppers of the show. According to the reports, Vitara Brezza also dominated the digital world, drawing the highest buzz on social media.
In an analysis report, marketing research firm Nielsen said Maruti Suzuki's compact SUV took lead in popularity, while models like the Hyundai Tucson and Honda BRV also generated a fair amount of online buzz, according to the Times of India. The analysis, for the period Feb. 3 to Feb. 9, has taken account the blog posts, Facebook status updates, tweets, videos on YouTube and photo uploaded to Flickr of each cars.
The Vitara Brezza is the next most important car launch in India, which is expected in the third week of March. Some of the Maruti Suzuki dealers have reportedly started bookings unofficially, while the official booking is expected to start from next month.
Expected to be offered in six variants — LDi, LDi (O), VDi, VDi (O), ZDi, and ZDi+ — the Vitara Brezza will be powered by 200 DDis diesel engine that will churn out 88.5bhp of power at 4,000rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1,750rpm mated to five-speed manual gearbox.
The compact SUV, conceived, designed and developed in India by Maruti's R&D team led by Chief Engineer CV Raman, is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 5.5 to 8.2 lakh.
