Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is the latest hot seller in the compact SUV space in India, and the latest reports indicate the waiting period for the SUV has been extended. The waiting period for top-spec ZDi (O) and ZDi+ is currently up to nine months depending upon the city, Autocar Professional reported. The lower trims such as LDi, LDi (O), VDi and VDi (O) also commands waiting period of up to seven months.
It was reported that over 50 percent of the bookings were for the top spec variants. The compact SUV currently has over 55,000 bookings. According to the reports, new customers booking Vitara Brezza can expect delivery only by the end of the year. The Vitara Brezza took the segment by storm by registering 5,563 unit sales in March 2016. It rose to 7,832 units last month and the vehicle is the second bestselling UV in the country behind Hyundai Creta.
Due to the increasing response, Maruti Suzuki has prompted to increase production of the Vitara Brezza. The current production of the Vitara Brezza stands at around 8,500 units a month, which is not sufficient to keep the demand and supply in check. Maruti Suzuki has reportedly cut down the production of its popular models Swift and Dzire to accommodate the newly-launched Baleno and the Vitara Brezza in India, Moneycontrol reported.
Available only with diesel engine, the compact SUV is powered by a 200 DDis 1248cc diesel engine that develops 88.5bhp at 4,000rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1,750rpm mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The compact SUV also boasts of a best-in-class fuel efficiency of 24.3 kmpl. The Vitara Brezza has been priced starting at Rs. 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
