Maruti Suzuki India, the country's largest car-maker has launched its first compact urban SUV, Vitara Brezza with a price tag starting at Rs 6.99 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi). The Vitara Brezza, which delivers a fuel efficiency of 24.3 kmpl packs the DDiS 200 engine under the hood.

Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest car-maker, will pull the wraps off its much-awaited Vitara Brezza compact SUV in India, Tuesday, March 8. The Vitara Brezza, fully developed by the R&D team of Maruti, will be sold through regular dealers of the company.

The Vitara Brezza, one of the most-awaited and desired models from the house of Maruti, is rumoured to be a modest fuel efficient compact SUV in the domestic market. Powering the Maruti's new compact SUV is a diesel 200 DDis engine, which can churn out 88.5bhp of power at 4,000 rpm and 200Nm of peak torque at 1750 rpm, with a five-speed manual gearbox. The engine is tuned to return a mileage of 24.3kpml. Maruti is expected to roll out petrol mill for the Vitara Brezza later in its life cycle. The Vitara Brezza is the company's first offering in the sub-four metre SUV segment.

Expected to be offered in six variants — LDi, LDi (O), VDi, VDi (O), ZDi, and ZDi+ — Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza will be offered in nine exterior body shades that include monotones and dual tones. While the dual tone colours blazing red with midnight black, fiery yellow with pearl arctic white, cerulean blue with pearl arctic white will be available on the top spec ZDi+ trim, the monotone colours — pearl arctic white, premium silver, granite grey, blazing red, cerulean blue and fiery yellow — will be available with the rest of the trims.

The compact SUV is expected accommodate features like ABS with EBD, dual front airbags, reverse parking sensor, keyless entry, projector headlamps, front fog lamps, rear wash wiper, steering mounted audio and calling controls, Smartplay infotainment system, voice command and navigation system.

Expected to be priced in the range of Rs 6 lakh to Rs 9 lakh, Maruti Vitara Brezza will rival Mahindra TUV 300 and Ford EcoSport in India. The dealers of the company have already started accepting the bookings for the new compact SUV; however the deliveries are expected to begin after March 21.
