It looks like country's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki has almost zeroed in on the launch date of its much-awaited impact SUV Viatar Brezza, as the latest discussion on the auto corridors hint at a launch towards the end of March. Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, which was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016, is the company's next big ticket vehicle in the intensifying compact SUV segment.
Although it has been said for quite a while that Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza could join the company's line-up in India latest by April, a discussion on Team BHP forum indicates that the arrival of the model could be on March 23. The company is expected to begin the dealer-level training for the Vitara Brezza in the last week of February and the official bookings are likely to open in the first week of March. It has to be noted that some of the dealers of the company have already started accepting bookings with a down payment ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 51,000.
Expected to be offered in six variants — LDi, LDi (O), VDi, VDi (O), ZDi, and ZDi+ — at the heart of the the Vitara Brezza is a diesel 200 DDis engine, which can churn out 88.5bhp of power @4,000rpm and 200Nm of peak torque at 1750rpm, with a five-speed manual gearbox.
To be pitted against models like Mahindra TUV 300 and Ford EcoSport in India, Vitara Brezza measures 3,995mm in length, 1,790mm in width, 1,640mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,500mm.
The Vitara Brezza SUV, which has been conceived, designed, developed and validated in India by Maruti's R&D team led by Chief Engineer CV Raman, is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 5.5 to 8.2 lakh.
