Maruti Suzuki's first compact SUV reportedly overtook Hyundai Creta to become the top selling utility vehicle in the country in May. Maruti Suzuki sold 7,200 unit of the Vitara Brezza in May, while Hyundai sold 7,057 units of Creta, reports ET Auto.
In April 2016, Hyundai sold 7,900 units of the Creta and retained its lead over the Vitara Brezza with a wafer-thin margin of 68 units. Maruti Suzuki sold 7,832 units of the Vitara Brezza in April 2016. Mahindra Bolero was at the third spot in April with 5,785 units sold. Going by the trend, the Bolero will be behind the Vitara Brezza and the Creta in May as well.

The Vitara Brezza currently has over 70,000 booking and waiting period up to nine months, depending on the variant. Sold only with a diesel engine, the Vitara Brezza is powered by a 200 DDis 1248cc engine that develops 88.5bhp at 4,000rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1,750rpm mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The compact SUV also boasts of a best-in-class fuel efficiency of 24.3 kmpl and prices start at Rs. 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
