Maruti Suzuki launched its first compact SUV, the Vitara Brezza, March 8, and the vehicle has racked up over 35,000 bookings in less than a month. Latest reports indicate almost half of the the bookings are for the top-spec ZDi+ variant, and the waiting period for it is now over five months.
A report in Autocar Professional says even customers who booked lower variants in the beginning of March have been changing their choice to the top-spec version after they got a chance to see the Vitara Brezza in dealerships.
One of the reasons for the change in choice said to be the visual appeal of the dual-tone colour palette reserved for the ZDi+ model. In addition to this, the top-spec variant is also equipped with features such as integrated turn indicators at electrically foldable ORVMs, a reverse parking camera, a Smartplay infotainment system, a voice command and navigation system, a cooled glover box, a front armrest, a start/stop button, cruise control, auto headlamps and auto wipers.
Maruti Suzuki's foray into the utility vehicle segment was seen to have impacted the total sales of the company when its financial year sales result were released Friday, April 1. The Vitara Brezza, along with the S-Cross launched in August 2015, helped Maruti Suzuki grow 123.4 percent in the utility vehicle segment, compared to the financial year 2014-15.
