Auto Expo 2016, India's biggest auto carnival, witnessed the unveiling of around 80 new models ranging from passenger cars to commercial vehicles. Maruti Suzuki, the county's largest car maker, brought a plethora of new models to add colour to the biggest celebration in the automotive industry. From hot hatch Baleno with Boosterjet engine to compact SUV Vitara Brezza, the event being held in Delhi saw it all.
The Auto Expo 2016, which opened its doors on 3 February, saw over 30 new models on the opening day. Here we give you a sneak peak at Maruti's new models, which turned heads at the auto show.
Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza
One of the cars, which grabbed attention at the Auto Expo 2016 is its Vitara Brezza compact SUV. Powered by 200 DDis engine, which can churn out 88.5bhp of power @4,000 rpm and 200Nm of peak torque at 1750 rpm, the new Maruti Vitara Brezza comes paired to a five speed manual gearbox. Marati Vitara Brezza measures 3995mm in length, 1790mm in width, and 1640mm in height and has a boot size of 328 litres.
Some of the noticeable features of Vitara Brezza include bull horn shaped LED lights with projector headlamps, cockpit style instrument cluster with ambient lighting, Smartplay infotainment system and contrasting floating roof.
Maruti Vitara Brezza is expected to go on sale in the country soon through regular dealers of the company and is priced between Rs 5.5 lakh and Rs 8.2 lakh.
Maruti Suzuki Ignis
Maruti Suzuki's pavilion also witnessed the unveiling of the company's highly anticipated Ignis, a hatchback with SUV stance. Maruti Ignis, which first appeared at the 44th Tokyo Motor Show, is built on a new-gen platform and will go on sale in India during the festive season this year. The Ignis, which is likely to get a price tag between Rs 4.8 lakh and Rs 6.8 lakh, will be Maruti's next offering to join the company's Nexa premium line-up.
Under the bonnet of Ignis will be the 1.3L MultiJet diesel engine and 1.2L VTVT petrol engine. In terms of dimensions, the Ignis measures 3,700 mm in length, 1,660 mm in width and 1,595 mm in height. It has a ground clearance of 180 mm and comes width a wheelbase of 2,435 mm.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS
Maruti's Baleno premium hatchback, which is currently on sale in the country, has got a new powerful variant at the Auto Expo 2016. Dubbed as the Baleno RS, the sporty version of Baleno hatchback packs 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol unit under the hood. The 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol unit of Baleno will belt out more than 100bhp of power. The Baleno RS, which will compete with the likes of new Ford Figo, Volkswagen Polo GT and Fiat Abarth Punto, will be launched in India during the festive season.
Also on display was Maruti S-Cross limited edition and the new-generation platform along with modified Celerio.
