Japanese car maker Suzuki showcased the automated manual transmission (AMT) equipped version of the Vitara Brezza compact SUV at Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2016 (GIIAS) last week. Emerging reports indicate that the AMT version of the compact SUV is also destined for the Indian market soon.
The Vitara Brezza AMT at the show came with a 1248cc diesel engine, reports Financial Express. The same engine mated to five-speed manual transmission powers the Vitara Brezza in India.
Maruti Suzuki is reportedly also working on the petrol variant of the Vitara Brezza. It is expected to be powered by either 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine or 1.2-litre petrol engine. The Vitara Brezza petrol is expected to make debut in early 2017.
The first compact SUV of Maruti Suzuki, the Vitara Brezza has become a phenomenal success for the company with over a lakh bookings so far. The vehicle also registers close to 9,000 units of average monthly sales. Currently, it is the best selling SUV in India despite being just five months old.
Buoyed by the response, the company was also prompted to increase production. The waiting period for the SUV in India currently ranges between six to nine months. The Vitara Brezza has also been instrumental in prompting a surge of UV sales for the company. Riding on the Vitara Brezza's suceess, Maruti Suzuki's utility vehicle sales also saw a steep growth of 151.3 percent in July.
