Maruti Suzuki's much awaited compact SUV has been confirmed to debut at the Auto Expo 2016. The compact SUV will be called Vitara Brezza.
The compact SUV with the code name YBA, which was caught testing many times last year, will be a sub 4-metre SUV. The Vitara name is familiar in India as the manufacturer sold a premium SUV named Grand Vitara. The Brezza is Italian for fresh breeze and the launch has been scheduled a few weeks after the Auto Expo, which will be held at Greater Noida in the first week of February.
The company also released a teaser image of the SUV and Maruti Suzuki claims the design symbolises confidence and energy designed to especially appeal to the urban SUV customers. The picture shows the SUV with square wheel arches, short overhangs, high ground clearance and upright hood. A prominent shoulder line and rooflines that slope down towards the rear give Vitara Brezza a unique design.
Under the hood, the compact SUV is expected to carry 1.2-litre K-Series engine and 1.3 litre Fiat sourced diesel engine. The Vitara Brezza could also get Maruti's latest SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle System) technology, which was debuted with the Ciaz SHVS.
To be pitted against the Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300 in India, the Brezza is likely to cost between Rs 5.5 lakh and Rs 8.2 lakh. The compact SUV is expected to get features like key-less entry, push start/stop button and touchscreen infotainment system, airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD).
