Maruti Suzuki's first compact SUV and one of the most awaited vehicles of the year the Vitara Brezza will drive in to the market March 21. Ahead of the launch, many company dealerships have commenced booking for the compact SUV, while the official booking is expected to start next month.
A report in ET Auto confirms March 21 as date of launch, citing a source close to the development. The compact SUV was unveiled at Auto Expo 2016 earlier this month and was one of the showstoppers of the event.
Expected to be offered in six variants — LDi, LDi (O), VDi, VDi (O), ZDi, and ZDi+ — the Vitara Brezza will be powered by 200 DDis diesel engine that will churn out 88.5bhp of power at 4,000rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1,750rpm mated to five-speed manual gearbox. The petrol engine model will not be available at the time of launch, but many reports confirmed a petrol engine model and another AMT may join the range later.
The compact SUV, conceived, designed and developed in India by Maruti's R&D team led by Chief Engineer CV Raman, is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 5.5 to 8.2 lakh. Maruti Suzuki spent about Rs 860 crore to develop Vitara Brezza and will have localisation level of nearly 98 percent. The compact SUV will lock horn against the Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300 in the segment.
