It looks like Maruti Suzuki has hit the bull's eye with its latest vehicles — the Vitara Brezza and the Baleno. Both vehicles, which rose to the numero uno position in the compact SUV and premium hatchback segments in April, continued the momentum in May.
The Vitara Brezza found close to 7,200 takers in May while the Baleno's sales touched the 10,000 mark, reports Autocar.
With higher sales of the Vitara Brezza, Maruti Suzuki has sold 13,596 units of its UVs in May, registering a 144.2 percent jump in sales against 5,567 takers in May 2015. Though the product-wise sales report is not out yet, it is clear that the Vitara Brezza is single-handedly taking Maruti Suzuki's UV sales to new heights.
It found 5,563 takers in March and sales rose to 7,832 units in April. The vehicle has also became the second-bestselling UV in the country behind Hyundai Creta in April. With higher sales and bookings of over 75,000 units, it wouldn't be surprising if the Vitara Brezza emerges as the bestselling UV of May.
On the other hand, the Baleno's sales touched 10,000 units, which is the best in a month for the premium hatchback so far. The Baleno was trailing the Hyundai Elite i20 in sales in the first three months of this year. The Baleno overtook the Elite i20 an April, and going by the trend, the Maruti Suzuki car likely to retain the position. Riding on the Baleno, Maruti Suzuki's compact hatchback segment grew 9.6 percent in April with sales of 46,554 units.
