Japanese car-maker Suzuki has unveiled the automatic version of the made-in-India Vitara Brezza compact SUV at Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2016 (GIIAS) on Thursday. The debut of Vitara Brezza in Indonesian market is expected by the end of the year and it will be the second market getting the compact SUV after India.
The Vitara Brezza for Indonesia will be exported from India and it will be sold only in diesel powertrain. The 200DDiS 1248cc diesel engine will develop 88.5bhp at 4,000rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1,750rpm mated to the choice of five-speed manual or five-speed automatic gearbox.
The AMT automatic gearbox equipped version of the Vitara Brezza is expected to enter India soon. Maruti Suzuki also plans to launch the Vitara Brezza in petrol engine in early 2017. This engine is likely to be introduced in Indonesia as well since the market is pro towards petrol powered cars.
The first compact SUV of Maruti Suzuki, the Vitara Brezza, has become phenomenal success with over 1 lakh booking so far. Buoyed by the response, the company was prompted to increase the production. The waiting period for the SUV in India now ranges between six and nine months. Vitara Brezza has also been instrumental in prompting a surge of UV sales for the company. Maruti Suzuki's utility vehicle sales saw a steep growth of 151.3 percent in July, riding on the Vitara Brezza. Despite being launched in March this year, Vitara Brezza is the best selling SUV in India at present.
