A highly camouflaged prototype of Maruti's long-awaited SX4 S-cross has been snapped again, hinting at the imminent launch of the crossover in the country.
The SX4 S-cross, Maruti's answer to the current SUV segment front runners Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport and Nissan Terrano was first seen at the Delhi auto Expo 2014 and is expected to make its debut in the country in early 2015. The latest spy shots are posted by CarWale.
The SX4 S-cross, which is already on sales in European markets is powered by 1.6 litre petrol engine, which can churn out 120 PS peak power and 156 Nm peak torque and 1.6 litre MultiJet engine, capable of generating 120 PS and 320 Nm torque.
In India, it is believed that SX4 S-Cross will get 1.6-litre diesel engine, which can churn out a power of 118 bhp with a peak torque of 32 kgm and chances are to get the transmission from a six-speed manual gearbox.
For the India-bound version of S-Cross, we expect it to come with features like LED daytime-running lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, scuff plates and black cladding.
Although the chances are slim, the hot S-Cross is also rumoured to come with "Allgrip" all-wheel-drive system.
As of now, the launch is expected to happen in 2015 and if reports are to be believed, Maruti's upcoming crossover will fall in the price range of ₹13 lakh.
In another development, Maruti's much anticipated Ciaz sedan, the replacement of the current underperforming SX4 will reach Indian shores in October.
The bookings for Ciaz are already open in the country with a token amount of ₹21,000 and the launch date is expected to reveal soon. Ciaz will get power from 1.3 litre Multijet diesel or 1.4 litre K Series petrol engine. While the 1.4 litre K series (K14B) petrol engine is capable of producing 95 PS power at 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm peak torque at 4,000 rpm, the 1.3 litre DDIS diesel motor is tuned to churn out 90 PS at 4,000 rpm power and 200 Nm peak torque at 1,750 rpm.
