Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest car maker is getting ready with an addition to its product line-up in India. Reports emerging on the web suggest that Maruti's upcoming SX4 could be named 'Across' in India.
That's not all. The new SX4 S-Cross has also been snapped without any hint of camouflage by GaadiWaadi, giving us a clear picture of what to expect from the new Maruti offering. The model is expected to see the light of the day in India sometime in May with a price tag of around ₹8 lakh.
As expected, the India-bound version of SX4 S-Cross aka 'Across' looks virtually the same as its international counterpart, except for minors tweaks in styling.
The latest spy shots, which are believed to be of the base variant of SX4 S-cross, showed the front fascia of the model with projector headlamps and Daytime Running LEDs, and expected to get 16-inch alloy wheels, scuff plates and black-cladding.
In terms of dimensions, SX4 S-Cross measures 4,300 mm in length, 1,765 mm in width, 1,575 in height and comes seated on a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. In Europe, the car is sold with a 1.6-litre petrol engine, which can churn out 120PS peak power and 156Nm peak torque and 1.6 litre MultiJet engine, capable of generating 120PS and 320Nm torque.
Coming to India, the SX4 S-cross is likely to pack 1.6-litre diesel engine, which can churn out a power of 118bhp with a peak torque of 32kgm and the transmission is likely to come from a six-speed manual gearbox. In India, the new 'Across' will be pitched against Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport and Nissan Terrano.
