Maruti Suzuki's popular sedan Swift Dzire will reportedly be getting automated manual transmission (AMT) in India soon.
The motor buffs at GaadiWaadi have posted the latest spy shots of Maruti Swift Dzire with AMT. The spotted test mule of Swift Dzire was a top-of-the-line diesel (ZDi) that comes equipped with features like ABS and Airbags.
Regarding the style and design of the Swift Dzire AMT, the model will remain just the same as the current one on in the market, except for the minor changes in the gear knob.
Under the hood, the Dzire AMT is likely to get the same tried and tested 1,248cc DDiS diesel engine, which is tuned to generate 75ps of power @4,000rpm and 190Nm @2,000rpm peak torque.
Going by the words of the original publisher of the spy shots, the Swift Dire AMT is likely to make its market debut in India soon as there is an increasing demand for AMT model in the country. As of now, Tata Zest AMT is the only one challenger of Maruti Swift Dzire AMT in India. The Dzire AMT sedan is likely to be priced at a premium of ₹35,000-₹40,000 in the Indian market.
Maruti is also expected to launch the AMT variant of its Wagon R and StingRay in the country in the coming months. Currently, the company's AMT line-up includes Celerio and Alto K10 AMT.
