The country's largest car-maker Maruti Suzuki seems to be gearing up to launch a new edition of its popular hatchback, the Swift. The Facebook handle of the company has started the teaser campaign for the Swift Deca, suggesting that a special edition of the car is on its way to the Indian market.
While the details about the Swift Deca are scanty at this point of time, it is rumoured to be a limited edition. The video teaser of the Deca highlights the number '10,' indicating that the new offering could be an anniversary edition. However, Maruti Suzuki's Swift, which first made its entry into the Indian market in 2005, is celebrating its 11 years in the country. So another explanation behind the use of the number '10' can be the possibility that the new edition would house those many new additional features. However, auto enthusiasts will have to wait for some more time to find out the real reason.
Maruti Suzuki is likely to launch the Deca anytime soon. While the car is expected to retain the style and design of the current Swift in the market, it could come fitted with new features, including Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), alloy wheels and an updated infotainment system.
Mechanically, the Swift is likely to remain unchanged. The current model in the market is powered by a 1.2-litre K-series VVT petrol engine and 1.3-litre turbocharged DDiS diesel engine with five-speed manual transmission in both petrol and diesel models. The Swift Deca could be priced slightly higher than the current model.
