Maruti Suzuki launched its first car via Nexa premium dealerships in August to mark its presence as a premium car-maker. Latest reports say the company is all set to establish a separate service network for cars sold via the Nexa dealerships.
Maruti Suzuki currently sells the S-Cross crossover and the Baleno hatchback through 127 Nexa showrooms across India. These cars are currently serviced in regular Maruti Suzuki service networks. Formation of exclusive service network is expected to ease the load on regular service centres.
"We will be setting up workshops which will be exclusive to Nexa. That would start in another six months," RS Kalsi, executive director of Marketing and Sales at Maruti Suzuki, told BusinessLine.
Maruti Suzuki is planning to add 123 Nexa outlets to the exisitng ones this year, taking the total to 250. The company will also launch the Baleno RS and the Ignis this festive season, increasing the Nexa's product offering to four. With the new additions, Nexa outlets are expected to contribute 15 percent of total sales over the next two-three years.
Maruti Suzuki has sold over 70,000 cars so far from the Nexa set up. The upcoming Baleno RS will get 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-charged petrol unit that will develop close to 110bhp and 170Nm of peak torque. The Ignis will be pitched as a smart city car. It will have a ground clearance of 180mm and comes with a wheelbase of 2,435mm. Powering the Ignis is likely to be a 1.2-litre VTVT petrol engine and a 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel unit.
