Maruti Suzuki is all set to showcase its new SX4 based crossover S-Cross at the IIFA 2015 Awards on 7 June, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and it is expected that this will be followed by the launch of the model in India in July. A fresh batch of spy shots of Maruti S-Cross has emerged online, revealing more details about the variants and the features of the crossover.
The motor buffs at GaadiWaadi have managed to snap a new prototype of Maruti S-Cross aka Across, which is believed to be the base variant of the model. The most intriguing part of the latest spy shots are that S-Cross is seen with roof carrier, a feature that is typically associated with fleet cars. Going by the reports on the web, Maruti could be planning to offer a taxi variant of S-Cross in India to tap new segments.
Maruti SX4 S-Cross is likely to be called S-Cross in India and is expected to be available in six body colours: Cosmic Black Pearl Metallic, Arctic White Pearl, Galactic Grey Metallic Boost Blue Pearl Metallic, Bison Brown Pearl Metallic and Silky Silver Metallic.
Under the hood, Maruti's S-Cross aka Across is likely to include 1.3-litre and 1.6-litre diesel engines. The 1.6-litre diesel engine will have the capacity to churn out a power of 118bhp with a peak torque of 32kgm and the transmission is likely to come from a six-speed manual gearbox.
As for fuel efficiency, 1.3 diesel mill of S-Cross is likely to deliver a mileage of 23 kmpl and the 1.6 engine is rumoured to give a return of 20kmpl.
Expect to be priced around ₹8 lakh, the Maruti S-Cross will take on the likes of Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport and Nissan Terrano in India.
