New details, including the launch, about the upcoming crossover S-Cross has emerged online.
Team BHP reports that the new S-Cross from the house of Maruti will make its India debut in July, the same month which will also see the launch of Honda's much awaited new Jazz and Hyundai's Creta. The report also adds that the S-Cross's all wheels will come with disc brakes and the company is unlikely to offer All-Wheel Drive (AWD) variants of the model in India at the time of launch.
Maruti S-Cross, the model that is based on SX4, will be taking on the likes of Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport. It will be riding on 16 inch alloy wheels with 205 section tyres and the model will house 60:40 splitting rear seats.
Although the engine details of the S-Cross have been guarded closely, rumours indicate it will have 1.3-litre and 1.6-litre diesel engines. The 1.6-litre diesel engine will have the capacity to churn out a power of 118bhp with a peak torque of 32kgm and the transmission is likely to come from a six-speed manual gearbox. We also hear that Maruti could also offer automatic variants of S-Cross.
Maruti S-Cross is speculated to include features like dual zone climate control feature of the model, which is a first in its segment, touchscreen SmartPlay infotainment system, rear AC vents, dual front airbags and ABS with EBD.
Unofficial bookings for S-Cross are underway in the country with a down payment of ₹25,000. The S-Cross is likely to be priced around ₹8 lakh in India.
