India's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki is reportedly gearing up to launch its first crossover-SUV dubbed S-Cross in 2015, claims a new report.
Maruti S-Cross, which was first showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo along with Maruti Ciaz will reach the domestic market in early 2015, according to Auto Car India report. The car is likely to feature 1.6-litre diesel engine which can churn out a power of 118bhp and a peak torque of 32kgm.
Maruti's upcoming crossover S-Cross will take on the likes of Renault Duster in India and is expected to come bundled with premium features. The car will pack features like LED daytime-running lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, scuff plates and black cladding. Talking of the pricing, the car is likely to fall in the price range of ₹13-14 lakh, according to the report.
Maruti is also expected to launch a new Alto K10 hatchback in the country by 2015 beside Ciaz.
Ciaz , the replacement of SX4 in the country is expected to reach the market by the end of this year. First seen at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014 , Ciaz is based on the Suzuki Authentics concept car and is likely to come with 1.3 liter Multijet diesel or 1.4 liter K Series petrol engine of Ertiga. The car will be pitted against Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Volkswagen Vento in the sub-continent and is expected to fall in the price brackets of ₹7.2 lakh to ₹10.5 lakh.
Meanwhile, for the month of April Maruti reported a decline of 11.4 percent in India. The total vehicle sales stood at 86,196 units, as against the 97,302 units in the corresponding month last year. The domestic sales of the company witnessed a dip by 12.6 percent in the month of April 2014, as against 90,523 units in April 2013. The export of the company saw a growth by 4.4 percent to 7,077 units in April 2014, against 6,779 units in the corresponding month last year.
