Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest car maker posted a growth of 3.7% in total sales in September 2015, as against the same month last year.
The company had sold 1, 09,742 units in September 2014, whereas the sale of last month this year stood at 1, 13,759 units. In September 2015 while the domestic sales of Maruti increased 6.8% at 1,06,083 units as against 99,290 units in the corresponding month last year, the export during this period declined by 26.6% to 7,676 units as compared to 10,452 units in September last year.
Last month, Maruti sold 35,570 units of Alto and Wagon R, compared to 35,547 units in September, 2014. The sales of the super-compact Dzire Tour jumped to 3,229 units during September 2015, up from 1,221 units during the same period in 2014, registering two-fold rise. There was no sale of premium sedan Kizashi during last month.
In the compact car segment that includes Swift, Ritz, Celerio and Dzire, Maruti's sales saw a slight increase of 3.5% at 44,826 units in September against 43,304 units in the corresponding month last year. The sales of Maruti's SX4 in 2014 were 1,375 units whereas, its replacement Ciaz clocked sales of 4,291 units in September, 2015.
The sales of utility vehicles Gypsy, Grand Vitara and Ertiga stood at 6,331 units in September, up from 5,980 units in the corresponding month last year. The company sold 11,836 units of Omni and Eeco last month, compared to 11,863 units in September 2014.
