Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the Ciaz with hybrid technology on 1 September, 2015 with a segment leading fuel efficiency.
An AutocarIndia report has confirmed the launch date, besides informing about the possible replacement of all the current diesel variants with the SHVS mild hybrid system.
From what we know so far, the SHVS moniker at the rear would be the sole differentiator over the regular model in terms of looks. The main change is the 1.3-litre Multijet engine that now comes with Integrated Starter Generator.
The system has been christened SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle). It makes use of lithium ion battery that gets charged with the help of regenerative braking. The system converts the kinetic energy of the rolling wheels into electricity for charging up the battery and a start-stop system to boost mileage.
The previous report suggests fuel efficiency close to 28kmpl. If this rings true, the sedan will be one of the most fuel efficient models in the country. Rumours are also doing the rounds that dealers are currently offering heavy discounts to sell the current stock of diesel variants.
The Ciaz SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle) is expected to be available in three variants – VDi, ZDi, and ZDi+. Maruti Suzuki is also likely to offer ABS, EBD and driver airbag across all variants of the Ciaz.
