As Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest carmaker, continues testing its upcoming Ignis on the Indian roads, a fresh batch of spy shots of the model has started doing the rounds. The Ignis is expected to be launched in India during the festive season this year.
Snapped by MotorTrend, in the latest spy shots, the Ignis is seen hiding under considerable amount of camouflage, thus not revealing anything new. However, the repeated sighting of the model is a good indication of the arrival of the Ignis in the country. Maruti has been testing the Ignis on the Indian roads for quite some time now. The Ignis, which made its India debut at the Auto Expo 2016 will rival Mahindra KUV100 and Ford EcoSport in India.
The Ignis will be the third model to be sold through Maruti Suzuki's Nexa premium dealerships. It is expected to come with features like projector headlights, outside rear-view mirrors with turn indicators, 18-inch alloy wheels, a rear-mounted spoiler and LED headlights and touchscreen infotainment system, while the safety is likely to be taken care of by Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and airbags. The Ignis is expected to be priced in the range of Rs.4.8 lakh to Rs.6.8 lakh.
In terms of dimensions, the Ignis 3,700mm in length, 1,660mm in width, and 1,595mm in height. While the wheelbase spans 2,435mm, the Ignis has a ground clearance of 180mm. Under the hood, the Ignis is likely to get a 1.2-litre VTVT petrol engine and a 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel unit. There have also been rumours that the Ignis could get a new 1.2 litre diesel engine, which is said to be the three-cylinder version of the 800cc diesel engine.
