Maruti Suzuki's first compact crossover, the Ignis, is inching closer to its launch, which is expected in October. Ahead of the launch, the vehicle was caught testing in Delhi.
In the video uploaded by YouTube user Meghraj Singh, the Ignis sports black alloy wheels. The body is fully draped in black and yet the silhouette makes it clear that the vehicle is the Ignis.

The Ignis falls in the micro-SUV segment, in which its notable rival is the Mahindra KUV100. The Ignis will feature raised ground clearance and 4x4 is expected in India-spec version.
The crossover has been rumoured to come with a 1.2-litre VTVT petrol engine and a 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel unit. The diesel mill is expected to be coupled with an automated manual transmission (AMT). Maruti Suzuki is also expected to employ the 1.0 BoosterJet turbo-petrol engine in Ignis.
The Ignis measures 3,700mm in length, 1,660mm in width, and 1,595mm in height. The vehicle comes with a wheelbase of 2,435mm and has a ground clearance of 180mm. Safety features such as ABS with EBD, airbags and hill descent control is expected to be standard in the Ignis.
Ignis will be the first Maruti Suzuki car in India to feature the Harmon Cardon audio system, which is likely to be employed by the manufacturer in some future cars as well. The unit is expected to offer smartphone integration and will support Apple CarPlay.
