Maruti Suzuki unveiled the Ignis concept, a compact SUV in hatchback stance, at the Auto Expo 2016. The company also confirmed the production version launch in the festive season. It seems India's largest car-maker by volume has already begun testing of the car.
A picture from Gaadiwaadi.com shows two Ignis models disguised in black colour. The report says one car features a 1.2-litre VTVT petrol engine and while the other has a 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel unit. Both engines power many of of Maruti Suzuki's currently selling cars.
The Ignis will be the third model to be sold through Maruti's Nexa premium dealerships. Unveiled at the 44th Tokyo Motor Show last year, Maruti Suzuki Ignis measures 3,700 mm in length, 1,660 mm in width and 1,595 mm in height. It has a ground clearance of 180 mm and comes with a wheelbase of 2,435 mm. Maruti Suzuki Ignis, which is expected to come to the Indian market with 95 percent localisation, is likely to get a price tag between Rs 4.8 lakh and Rs 6.8 lakh. When launched, the Ignis will rival Mahindra KUV100 and Ford EcoSport.
As for styling, the Iginis is expected to house features like projector headlights, outside rear-view mirrors with turn indicators, 18-inch alloy wheels, rear mounted spoiler and LED headlights. Other features expected include touchscreen infotainment system, ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake distribution) and airbags.
