Maruti Suzuki Ignis, a compact crossover from the house of India's largest car maker, has been snapped undergoing tests on Indian roads. The images come on the heels of its India debut at the recently concluded Auto Expo 2016 in Delhi.
In the images snapped by GaadiWaadi, the Ignis is seen covered in thick camouflage, thus doing a good job of hiding the crossover from the eagle-eyed photographers. The Ignis, the third model to be sold through Maruti's Nexa premium dealerships, has been confirmed to go on sale during the festive season this year without specifying the exact launch date. The original publisher of the latest spy images of the Ignis also claims that the new Maruti compact crossover is likely to be launched in September.
For the uninitiated, Maruti Suzuki Ignis, the mini-SUV, measures 3,700 mm in length, 1,660 mm in width and 1,595 mm in height. It has a ground clearance of 180 mm and comes on a wheelbase of 2,435 mm. Powering the Ignis are 1.3L MultiJet diesel engine and 1.2L VTVT petrol engine and the car is likely to get a price tag between Rs 4.8 lakh and Rs 6.8 lakh. When launched, the Ignis will be pinned to rival Mahindra KUV100 and Ford EcoSport.
As for styling, the Iginis is expected to house features like projector headlights, OVRMs with turn indicators, 18-inch alloy wheels, rear mounted spoiler and LED headlights. Other features expected include touchscreen infotainment system, ABS with EBD and airbags.
