It is not a secret anymore that Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest car maker, is attempting to achieve the 'premium' status with the opening of showroom chain Nexa. Not only Maruti Ciaz and S-Cross, the upcoming premium hatchback model codenamed YRA will also be sold through the showrooms.
According to a report in Livemint, YRA would be sold through Nexa by the end of the year. Maruti is scheduled to break the cover of the new crossover, S-Cross, in India on 5 August.
Maruti YRA, which is currently in its testing phase in the country, is likely to be offered in India with a range of petrol and diesel engines.
Previous reports had indicated that the engine line-up of YRA will include 1.25-liter (1,242 cc) petrol engine, K10C Boosterjet motor, 1.4 K-Series petrol motor and the tried-and-tested 1.3-litre DDiS diesel motor.
The new YRA hatchback, which will compete against the likes of Honda Jazz and Hyundai Elite i20 in India, is expected to make its market entry during the festive season this year.
