Maruti Suzuki's popular MPV Ertiga is all set to get a facelift and the new version is expected to be launched in expected in October, when the car sales of the country is usually at its peak.
The 2015 Ertiga has been caught testing on the Indian roads ahead of its launch and the latest report from Cartrade.com says the dealers have finished selling the last batch of the current Ertiga. The current model, which was launched in 2012, garnered 11,000 bookings in five days. Maruti Suzuki is planning to extend its lead in the segment with the updated MPV.
The major change in the Ertiga facelift would be the inclusion of SHVS small hybrid system with the diesel engine. The technology made its debut in Ciaz Hybrid and it helps in increasing fuel efficiency. It will carry over the same 1.4-litre K Series petrol engine producing 94bhp and 130Nm. The 1.3 multi-jet diesel engine, developing 89bhp and 200Nm of torque, will be mated to five-speed manual transmission.
Apart from the hybrid engine, the Ertiga facelift will feature cosmetic upgrades inside and outside. The facelift, which was showcased at the 2015 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show, sports an embossing three-slat chrome grill. The fog lamps will get chrome housing and a newly-designed bumper. A horizontal chrome slat above the registration plate and a set of reflectors on the bumper are the changes in the rear. On the inside it will have engine start/stop button, new upholstery, electric folding mirrors, keyless entry and SmartPlay infotainment system.
As Ciaz Hybird dropped price by making use of the Government of India's FAME scheme, which offers incentives of up to Rs 29,000 on electric and hybrid vehicles, the Ertiga facelift will also be priced slightly lower than the current models.
