Introduced in October, Ciaz sedan from the house of Maruti Suzuki has earned fairly good response from the auto lovers of the country. Now, the latest reports indicate that the company is weighing the idea of offering the model with 1.6 litre diesel engine.
A report in Economic Times states that Maruti, which will offer its upcoming S-Cross with the Fiat 1.6 litre diesel engine, may also consider the same for its Ciaz sedan as the current diesel engine of the model has come under fire. Ciaz is currently powered by 1.3 litre MultiJet diesel engine and 1.4 litre K Series petrol engine. The 1.3 litre diesel mill has the capacity to churn out 90 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque and the same motor is also under the skin of Maruti's other models like Swift and Ertiga.
The report also adds that Maruti is also developing a new 1.5 litre diesel engine to power its vehicles. Although the details about this new engine are not known as yet, reports indicate that this could be the downsized version of 1.6 litre engine.
Meanwhile, Maruti's upcoming S-Cross has hit the assembly line at the company's plant. Under the hood, Maruti's S-Cross aka Across is likely to get 1.3-litre and 1.6-litre diesel engines. The 1.6-litre diesel engine will have the capacity to churn out power of 118bhp with a peak torque of 32kgm and the transmission is likely to come from a six-speed manual gearbox.
